about
Lars van Straalen is an architect at XML Architecture Research Urbanism and Fresh Eyes Talent 2020, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. From his background in urban heritage at Delft University of Technology he has always looked at the built environment as a 3D space where life takes place. Photography is his tool to investigate this fast-evolving environment and its wide spectrum of shapes. Through the lens this once so 3D space is flattened into a 2D frame of shapes, a phenomenon that drives the composition of his work.
Available for commissions. Represented work spans residential, cultural, and public architecture across Europe.
